Pump.fun Suspends Live Stream After Shocking Incident

Pump.fun, a platform where users can create their own coins for listing on the decentralized exchange Raydium, has announced the suspension of its live streaming feature following a severe abuse incident within the past 24 hours.

A Shocking Event

On November 25, Beau, the project manager of Pudgy Penguins Safe, shared a disturbing video on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter).

The video showed an individual threatening suicide live on air if the coin they created did not reach their desired market capitalization.

Pump.fun allows users to issue tokens with attached images, aiming to list these tokens once liquidity reaches a capitalization of $69,000. This threshold allows the token to be traded on Raydium, a decentralized exchange operating on the Solana blockchain.

Beau promptly reported the incident to Pump.fun and requested the video be handed over for the team to address the issue.

Pump.fun Responds

A few hours later, Pump.fun issued a statement on its website, announcing that certain platform features were temporarily disabled to prevent further abuse.

The company stated:

“From the start, we have enforced strict moderation measures, including removing inappropriate images, names, descriptions, comments, and NSFW content, as well as disabling live stream and video features.”

User Safety Comes First

Pump.fun clarified that suspending the live stream feature was aimed at “ensuring absolute user safety,” further adding:

“This feature will remain disabled indefinitely until we refine our moderation system to better manage the increasing volume of activity.”

This decision is seen as a necessary effort to protect the community as the platform gains traction in the cryptocurrency space.
